Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a vocal advocate of gun-control measures who was known for trying to find common ground with Republicans during her three decades in the Senate, has died, according to two sources familiar the matter. She was 90.

Our great state of California has a long history of Democratic, progressive, and liberal leadership. Senator Dianne Feinstein was one of those pioneering women leaders hailing from California that has upheld and modeled the best ideals of our democracy. She will leave a large gap in our state and in D.C. We wish her family, friends, colleagues, and staff warm wishes and prayers.

Thank you, Dianne Feinstein, for a life well lived and for your legacy of public service. Rest in peace.
