Balboa Park in San Diego is much more massive than I remember, and rightly so. At 1200 acres, it is only slightly smaller than the adjacent Downtown San Diego area (1400 acres), but a bit larger than NYC’s Central Park (800 acres). The Park contains numerous museums, attractions including the San Diego Zoo, and several places to eat. One that managed to get me to eat there was Prado. This restaurant shares the same name of the building, El Prado, that is in the vicinity. Ordinarily, it’s a 5 star restaurant my wallet would avoid, but it was a Tuesday, and on most Tuesdays, they are running a Date Night Special.

Other than the really delicious food, the area too is very pretty. The interior of the restaurant is whimsical, while the exterior is shared with the architecture of the area in general, which I think is Spanish in nature. Courtyards, a garden like area, mystical archways and numerous buildings.
