Prop 50 passed with 63.8% YES votes. Some people want to say that Prop 50 is fighting fire with fire, but guess what? We need to fight fire with fire, especially when Republicons are hellbent on cheating with no accountability. Democrats have for too long not done enough; not holding Republicans accountable when we have the power, and failing to respond with equal force to whatever nonsense Republicans do. But finally, sensible Democrats have pushed back, and seem intent to meet with equal force and determination against what Republicans are planning. Gavin Newsom did not pass Prop 50; the voters did, and that is because we the people can see what is at stake.The systems that are supposed to prevent the utter failures and atrocities the Trump administration is perpetuating have failed.
Supreme Court has essentially okayed gerrymandering to no limits specifically for Republicans to abuse. Our legislature is shut down and completely useless, as it has been ever since Republicans took a majority in the house in 2022. This is not the end. For now, CA’s Prop 50 balances out what Texas did, but make no mistake, Republicans will not stop there, and Trump will stop at nothing to prevent the 2026 and 2028 elections. This must be repeated by every other Democrat run state to ensure that our country is in a position to be fixed in 2026 and for full recovery in 2028. Republicans are already looking to gerrymandering other states they control, so it is now up to every Democratic governor to respond, not just when Republicans do it, but now, because Republicans will.
