We went exploring within the part of California that may call itself Mid-State California, or Central California without the valley; I’m talking about Paso Robles. Paso Robles is only a rocks throw from Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo and other cities of the Central Coast. Paso Robles, just like with Napa Valley and Lodi, is renowned for its wine. One winery we got the chance to experience wine tasting was Ella’s Vineyard, specifically its tasting room. The actual location of the winery is in Creston, which is 14 miles away from the tasting room. One of the bottles of wine we ended buying was their 2023 Pinot Grigio. Pinot Grigio is one of those wines that are usually a 2nd thought, so it was refreshing to have a Pinot Grigio that was memorable.
Fermented in 100% stainless steel, this wine is crisp and refreshing with notes of Meyer lemon and honeysuckle. Silky textures give way to a balanced minerality and acidity that pairs wonderfully with fish, poultry, goat cheese or a walnut salad.
