So a few years ago, likely 2 years, Mike and I went to Los Angeles in West Hollywood to enjoy some bar hopping, as this would be the first time I could legally drink in LA. At first, we were astonished to see how many locations had closed down, with several vacancies, waiting for a new business to come and claim them. Anyway, one of the bars we had went to was the Gym Bar & Grill, and at the time, they were running a special Happy Hour. We were given tokens to redeem our next freebies after our first order. However, both Mike and I were too tired to grab another drink, and we were told we could keep the tokens and use them the next time we showed up at Gym Bar & Grill. So for 2 years, I had kept in mind that the next time we visit LA, we would use these tokens. Finally, we made the return to Los Angeles several days ago, anxious to see if the Gym Bar & Grill was still open, and if they’d honor the tokens.

Sadly, they did not honor it. Their excuse? Different management back then, different management now. They are certainly in their right to not honor the token deal that was years ago, but I consider this to be a completely missed opportunity. Rather than accept our tokens for us to get a good deal, which would likely result in us feeling good enough to stay around a bit longer to order more (overpriced) food and drinks, they simply lost our business that day. Meanwhile, there were plenty of other locations that had happy hour specials, and there are just some establishments that don’t have overpriced stuff, period. I can enjoy much better food and reasonably priced drinks at Applebee’s. Here in Fresno, the Lincoln Pub is still holding true to its cocktails and appetizers starting at $5. Guess I have overpriced souvenirs to keep now.
