California is known for many things, be it Hollywood, the Golden Gate Bridge, bustling cities, and National Parks like Yosemite, but it also has stowed away many wonders that take deliberate effort to find. One of these wonders is the Carrizo Plain. The Carrizo Plain (designated as a National Monument) is a large, enclosed grassland plain, approximately 50 miles long and up to 15 miles across, in southeastern San Luis Obispo County, California. It is the largest single native grassland remaining in California, and also features the San Andreas Fault. The plain can also feature breath taking Super Blooms, in which millions of dormant flower seeds sprout when conditions are right (sufficient rain).
